Olivia Bauer is this year’s Editor-in-Chief. She is a senior Professional Writing Major with an Environmental Science co-major from Frankfort, Illinois. She hopes to one day work in the environmental policy or environmental law field.

She hopes to work for a public transit agency, ideally WMATA (the DC metro). She is the new Secretary of Infrastructure and Sustainability for Miami’s Associated Student Government.



meekael pic.jpgMeekael Hailu is a sophomore Social Justice Studies and Sustainability major from Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He is part of the Mock Trial team as has co-started a club dedicated to attacking poverty called We The People. He is also a part of the Peace and Justice Association research assistant team. He hopes to become an environmental attorney one day.

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERABlair Hassett is a First-Year majoring in Political Science from Cincinnati, Ohio. She plans to practice environmental law and is currently an EcoRep and a member of University Democrats.

She plans to pursue a career in government relations, where she can continue to fight the injustice, inequality and ignorance surrounding climate change as a political issue. Erin loves to make people laugh and hopes to bring her knack for storytelling to her future career.

He has an undergraduate degree in International Studies and Geography and a first master’s in International Relations. He is interested in many things—especially the human implications of climate change. After Miami he hopes to work in journalism.

After that and before coming to Miami in August 2017, he obtained professional experience in ecological restoration, environmental education, trail maintenance and environmental consulting. He is an advocate, photographer, and poet of nature. He is also inspired by music, spirituality, and meditation. In the unlikely circumstance that he has free time, he enjoys running, frisbee, basketball, reading a good book, practicing guitar and piano, catching up with friends and having deep conversations.

He enjoys traveling, music, hiking, recycling, beekeeping, and just being around animals in general. He hopes to raise awareness of and help solve environmental and societal issues for a sustainable future.

A short term goal of hers is to become a Road Warrior for Thirst Project to do her part in ending the global water crisis. After that, well… Stay tuned. A quote that keeps her both motivated and passionate about protecting our home is, “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” She’s very excited to see what the upcoming years at Miami have in store for her!

She is from Springboro, Ohio and enjoys playing soccer and reading about various scientific topics. One day she plans to go to grad school and eventually work for the Department of Energy or the EPA.

She enjoys reading, exercising and learning about topical events about the environment. This is her first year at Miami University and looks forward to becoming more involved in the school through organizations such as GreenHawks Media and research labs on campus. She hopes to one day work for a program that aids in prevention and promoting health in needing communities.

Mia Lee is a sophomore planning on majoring in fashion and marketing. She is from Hinsdale, Illinois and enjoys reading, poetry, exercising, experimenting with photography and modeling. Her favorite quote is “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you”.

Jessica Terry is GreenHawks Media’s Business Manager. She is a Senior Marketing major with a minor in Sociology. She is from Weston, Connecticut and enjoys listening to music, making playlists, and drawing. Someday she hopes to work in some music industry in the marketing department (either in NYC or Chicago).
Annie Blair

Annie Blair has been faculty advisor to Greenhawks Media since its inception in her Environmental Journalism class in 2009. She is a senior clinical professor of journalism at Miami University and a freelance journalist. Annie is an affiliate faculty member of Miami’s Institute for the Environment and Sustainability and its Institute for Food. She also serves on the board of the Mill Creek Watershed Council. Her idea of a great day is getting lost in the woods.
